Jamie Lee Curtis to appear at HorrorHound Convention in November!

The rumors are true.

Jamie Lee Curtis has agreed to attend her first-ever horror convention. ...

And it will also be her last!

Jamie Lee Curtis has signed on as the guest of honor at this November's HorrorHound Weekend event. The event will take place over the weekend of November 16-18th, 2012 at the Indianapolis Marriott East, 7202 East 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.

Jamie Lee Curtis will be appearing at the event on both Saturday (November 17th) and Sunday (November 18th) for autograph sessions, photo-ops and an on-stage Q/A panel which is sure to be epic. This is a landmark opportunity for fans, as Jamie has never attended an event like this, nor provided horror fans with the opportunity to have their memorabilia signed in such a capacity. And it's all for charity, via the Starlight Children's Foundation. ALL monies earned from Jamie's autograph sessions, photo-ops and stage event will go directly to the Starlight Children's Foundation. In fact, part of the proceeds from HorrorHound Weekend's ticket sales will also be donated to this amazing charity as we will also be taking donations at the event for anyone wishing to help this cause further. More details about the charity and other ways you can help will be listed on this event's Web site when it is launched next month.

In conjunction with Jamie Lee Curtis' jump into the world of horror conventions, Jamie wanted to make sure that it was expressed that this will be a one time only appearance. Once this event is over, Jamie Lee Curtis will be retiring from the horror convention scene making this appearance all the more important for all those fans who have been patiently waiting for this moment and opportunity to meet one of the most iconic actors in horror history. This is IT!

Jamie Lee Curtis, daughter of actors Janet Leigh (Psycho) and Tony Curtis, began her horror career in one of the most important genre films ever produced: John Carpenter's Halloween (1978)! As central character, Laurie Strode, she helped create the modern day scream queen. This was firmly established thanks to her follow-up roles in The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train and Road Games. In 1981 she returned to the role of Laurie Strode in Halloween II. Soon after, Jamie started appearing in more high-end projects and comedies including such classics as Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, Blue Steel, My Girl and Forever Young. In 1994 Jamie Lee Curtis co-starred in James Cameron's True Lies. Soon after Jamie returned to the Halloween franchise with H20, released in 1998 (and again, appearing in 2002's Halloween: Resurrection). More noteworthy film releases followed, including Virus, Freaky Friday, Christmas with the Kranks and Drowning Mona. More recently, Jamie has played a recurring character on the hit TV series NCIS.

This November HorrorHound Weekend event will include a packed vendor room and will boast a number of additional celebrity guests to be announced. Halloween and Jamie Lee Curtis fans alike will want to assure they mark this date on their calendars!!! Please note that autograph tickets for Jamie Lee Curtis will be sold on horrorhoundweekend.com in advance of the event. This decision has been made to assure that people traveling for this appearance will know prior to booking their travel that they in fact are going to meet this screen legend. Ticket information will be available next month.

HorrorHound's annual November event is usually held in Cincinnati, Ohio, however, due to the popularity of this event, we decided to move our event to our more-established (and larger) hotel in Indianapolis. HorrorHound Weekend will return to Cincinnati on its new date: March 22-24th, 2013 at the Sharonville Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Filmmaker Admits to Killing Victim

A sketch of Twitchell April 6, 2011

Film Making gone Horribly Wrong!
This was a bad idea and I would never recommended anyone making a film try to scare an unsuspecting person on camera with real weapons.  Never do that, ever.

EDMONTON - A lawyer has told jurors that his filmmaker client killed and dismembered a total stranger — not in a deliberate murder, but during a publicity stunt gone horribly awry.

"Events spiralled out of control in a way he didn't expect, and Mr. (Johnny) Altinger lay dead or dying on the floor," Charles Davison said as the defence opened its case Wednesday.

Mark Twitchell, 31, is charged with the first-degree murder of Altinger on Oct. 10, 2008. He has pleaded not guilty.
The Crown has argued that Twitchell lured Altinger to a residential garage that night, killed him and hacked up the body to match a movie shot in the same garage by Twitchell and his buddies two weeks earlier.

After Davison spoke to the jury in his opening address, Twitchell took the stand and said the movie, called "House of Cards," gave him an idea that eventually got out of hand.

The eight-minute slasher flick revolves around a philandering husband who goes to meet a woman he met online. But he is instead Tasered and abducted by a mysterious man in a hockey mask.

The killer takes the husband to a closed room, tapes him to a chair and obtains his computer passcode to clean out his bank account. He tells the victim he is being killed for his cheating ways, runs him through with a samurai sword and hacks up the body parts.

Twitchell told jurors that after the movie was shot he came up with a plan to make sequels and to create a buzz around what he hoped would be a franchise. His idea was for something he called multiple angle psychosis layering entertainment, or MAPLE.

The plan was to put actual people through the same experience as the "House of Cards" victim, but not to kill them. That way, he said, when those people saw the movie, they would text or email friends to say something similar had actually happened to them. That, he believed, would get people talking.

"We would be trying to keep the audience down the rabbit hole," said Twitchell, referring to "Alice In Wonderland."

"We would be going from the reality to the fantasy world, but staying in the fantasy world as long as possible."
He testified that on Oct. 3, 2008, he posed as an Internet date online to lure another stranger, Gilles Tetreault, to the garage.

Twitchell said he had bought knives and created a "kill room" with plastic sheets on the walls and table to catch blood that was part of the hoax.

He said the plan was to surprise Tetreault, tell him it was all make-believe and ask him to write about it on the web.
But 10 minutes before Tetreault arrived, things changed.

"I got this spur of the moment idea," Twitchell testified. "Instead of going through it in the regular way, I'll actually try to scare this guy."

Tetreault testified last week that when he got to the garage a man in a hockey mask tried to incapacitate him with a stun baton. He told court he fought back and managed to escape. Twitchell agreed that was pretty much what happened.

A week after that, Twitchell said, he lured Altinger to the same garage on the same premise.
Twitchell's testimony came after three weeks of evidence from the Crown.

A parade of police and civilian witnesses told the jury that knives, a saw and a meat cleaver stained in Altinger's blood were found in Twitchell's possession and in his car.

Police also found that Twitchell had Altinger's car. He told them at the time that a stranger sold it to him for $40.

The Crown has also entered into evidence a text document found deleted on Twitchell's laptop hard-drive that details the unnamed author's plan to explore his "dark side" and become a serial killer.

Davison said the defence doesn't deny that much of what's in the document reflects Twitchell's life. But not, he said, the part about the murder of a man named Jim, who the Crown says was actually Altinger.

In the document, the writer describes luring Jim to the garage, bashing him on the head with a pipe and driving a hunting blade into his stomach until he bleeds out on the garage floor.

"I blasted him so hard blood spattered everywhere,'' writes the author. "He hit the floor but was still conscious.''

The writer says Jim pleaded and bargained for his life but the author was undeterred.
"I wailed on him again.''

The author then embarks on a graphic, multi-day odyssey to dispose of the remains.
First he chops up the body, then tries to burn it in a barrel. When the parts won't disintegrate, he cuts them into smaller pieces, puts them in garbage bags and contemplates tossing them in a river before finally settling on a sewer.

At the start of the trial, Twitchell offered to plead guilty to a reduced charge of interfering with the remains of Altinger, but that was rejected by the Crown.

Earlier this week, jurors were told that a year before the trial, Twitchell gave police directions to a sewer where Altinger's remains — mostly ribs and a kneecap — were found.

The Collective, Bloody-Disgusting and AMC Theatres Join Forces

Horror website Bloody-Disgusting.com**, the AMC theatre chain and The Collective are teaming up.  They will be finding and distributing independent horror films.

**Bloody-Disgusting.com was the first major website to get behind our short film "Candy." and release the original concept trailer at the same time we screened it at Creations Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles last year.  They have been a huge supporter of Inide Horror & I'm pleased to see this joint venture happening.

Los Angeles-
The Collective, a full-service entertainment management and content company, along with AMC Theatres (AMC), a leading theatrical and exhibition company, and popular horror website BloodyDisgusting.com, announce today a film distribution partnership dedicated to acquiring and marketing the best horror and thriller titles from the festival and international markets.

The Collective has acquired the rights to several films out of horror- and genre-heavy festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, Slamdance, Sitges Film Festival and Fantastic Fest, and plans on releasing the films across multiple platforms.

AMC will show a new title in the series each month, at least twice a week, across 32 key markets, including a special Friday midnight show, beginning in May. After their theatrical exhibition at AMC, films from the series will be available to fans of the genre in DVD, Video on Demand (VOD), online and television. Released though The Collective's home-video partnership with Vivendi Universal, DVDs for titles in the Bloody Disgusting series will feature unrated content, bonus features and special packaging for each title.

The AMC showings will introduce audiences to top horror and thriller films they would not otherwise see, as well as feature short films, contests and premiere content from the genre's heavy hitters, offering a new platform for how films can be experienced.

"There's a huge market for niche horror films - both independent and foreign - that isn't being met in the current environment," said Gary Binkow, a partner at the Collective. "We're extremely excited to be working with AMC, a company that is forward-thinking in their approach to distribution and community outreach, and willing to work with us to bring the fans into theatres to experience quality horror films in high definition video and audio. Together, we will build up a series around what those fans really want. And it only makes sense to have the trusted tastemakers of the genre from the world's number one entertainment source for horror, Bloody Disgusting, pick the titles that they think deserve to be seen by a wider audience."

"In many of AMC's major-market theatres, horror films are very popular, but we have lacked a steady supply of quality titles," said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president of alternative and specialty content at AMC. "We are pleased to offer our guests this innovative film series, one that will entice them to return month after month for programming selected especially for them."

"We see a lot of horror films that never make it to the consumer here in the States," said Brad Miska, Bloody Disgusting co-head. "We hope to change that by releasing only films we personally love and think the horror community will embrace. Horror movies are a social experience. The success of Bloody Disgusting and other horror communities proves that concept. Bloody Disgusting represents a society of hardcore fans and we plan to activate them through these screenings, bringing the conversation off of the blogs and into the theater itself, while creating a unique experience for each filmgoer that motivates them to come back every month for the experience itself, not just the films."

The first films to be released under this venture are:

COLD FISH - From Sion Sono, the director of LOVE EXPOSURE and SUICIDE CLUB and based on a true story, it came as no surprise that Sono's brutal serial killer film COLD FISH received international acclaim on the festival circuit, playing Toronto, Venice, Pusan, Fantastic Fest, and others. When Shamoto's teenage daughter was caught stealing, a generous middle-aged man helps to resolve the situation. The man and his wife offer to have Shamoto's daughter work at their fish store. Shamoto soon discovers the horrific truth of the seemingly perfect couple...who force him to get his hands dirty in their brutal business. Inspired by a true events, COLD FISH is a bloodcurdling suspense drama that unveils the underlying insanity of an ordinary man.

RAMMBOCK - Produced by Melanie Berke and Sigrid Hoerner, written by Benjamin Hessler and directed by Marvin Kren, the Fantastic Fest favorite marks the first German foray into the zombie genre. Kren's short but action packed feature follows a group of strangers attempting to fight off a horde of infected zombies in a Berlin apartment complex.

YELLOWBRICKROAD - Produced by Eric Hungerford and directed and written by Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland and starring Cassidy Freeman (SMALLVILLE), Anessa Ramsey (THE SIGNAL), and Lee Wilkof (BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD) In the Fall of 1940, the entire population of Friar, NH abandoned their homes and walked up an ancient trail, never to be seen alive again. Their fates have remained a mystery for over 70 years, until a team of researchers discover the trailhead and attempt to track the path the doomed citizens of Friar took.
