Charlize Theron Shaves Her Head for 'Mad Max: Fury Road'

Looks like Charlize Theron (Monster, Æon Flux) was spotted in Namibia this week with her newly adopted son where she is about to start filming Mad Max: Fury Road any day.   Apparently Theron's character, Furiosa needs to have a shaved head.  Honestly, living in the desert, in Africa, in a post apocalyptic world, I can't imagine anyone having hair.

The film is a reinvention of the Mad Max series which made Mel Gibson a star.

Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) will star as Max.

I have a deep respect for Theron. She manages to captivate me in almost every film she is in. Her Academy Award winning performance in Monster is what made her a household name, but she has really risen to be one of the best actresses in Hollywood and it has nothing to do with her Dior J'adore beauty

Tech Note:
The film was originally supposed to be shot with 3D cameras but that is not happening .  Now, according to news reports, Warner Bros. will be using Alexa digital cameras combined with Canon and Olympus DSLR's.

Warner Bros. is obviously trying to cut costs where it can and will employ digital 3D after the film is shot.  That didn't work out so well for some films (Clash of the Titans being one of them) but it did however, work out well for The Avengers.

 We shall see.

If the 5D Mark II changed the game.  This could do it again.  Though the price is not suitable for your average filmmaker.

Roger Ebert Calls this Video Oscar Worthy.

Here is a simple yet cool video of the NYC blizzard shot by Jamie Stuart  with a camera and tripod. There is a time before the snow turns into slush that is truly beautiful.  Roger Ebert thinks that this three-and-a-half minute video is Oscar Worthy.

Here is what Ebert had to say:
" This film deserves to win the Academy Award for best live-action short subject.
(1) Because of its wonderful quality. (2) Because of its role as homage. It is directly inspired by Dziga Vertov's 1929 silent classic "Man With a Movie Camera." (3) Because it represents an almost unbelievable technical proficiency. It was filmed during the New York blizzard of Dec. 26, and Jamie Stuart e-mailed it to me with this time stamp: December 27, 2010 4:18:18 PM CST. "

The turn-around time on this video is truly amazing as well. Stuart used a Canon 7D (and a variety of Nikon manual lenses) to shoot the film and Final Cut Pro to edit this in just a little over a day!
