Best known for his role opposite Jack Lemon and Marilyn Monroe in Billy Wilder's "Some Like It Hot". Curtis is also known for having a relationship with the original Scream Queen Janet Lee and having an equally famous daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis.He was nominated for an Academy Award for :"The Defiant Ones". Curtis passed away at his home in Henderson, Nevada of cardiopulmonary arrest, said a spokeswoman for the Clark County coroner.
"My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages," his daughter actress Jamie Lee Curtis said in a statement. "He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world."In 2000, the American Film Institute named "Some Like It Hot" the best comedy of the 20th century.
