Saturday January 24, 2010 is a night when Actors honor Actors.
This is awards show season & some people think it's all a waste of time but I've always found it to be exciting and rewarding.
Let's be honest though, this year did not show us so many wonderful performances or film that it was hard to choose. There are a few great ones but of course they will rise far above the mediocre films and make it seem as though we were all just given a gift by the studios. When in actuality, the studios should be thanking the consumers for actually leaving their houses this year to see anything!
The Golden Globes just solidified that beginning of the Film awards shows. But, all of Hollywood is aware the Globes are just an excuse to get dressed up and get press. It's not entirely about the films or TV shows. Since the Globes are only voted on by, at most, 100 members. Which I truly believe does not speak for the masses. But I'll leave it alone for now.
As far as the Screen Actor's Guild Awards goes, this is pretty wonderful in that Only the Acting Community can vote on these winners. I believe that if you win one of these guys, you've really done your job spectacularly.
This year's crop of actors nominated are among some of the best performances I have ever seen in my life. So I'm happy to watch the show this year & excited to see who takes on home.
